Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about MyScrapbook Studio.

"Is it actually free?"#

Yes. The Free plan is permanent, not a trial. Premium tiers exist for people who hit the project cap or want premium features, but you can make full scrapbook pages on Free indefinitely.

"Where are my photos stored?"#

On your device. We don't upload your photos to our servers. The page references them locally.

"I switched computers and my photos are missing"#

Expected. Your project loaded fine but the photo references can't find files that aren't on this machine. Re-add the photos from this device's photos panel.

"It works on Mac?"#

Yes. Browser-based, so anything modern: Safari, Chrome, Edge, Firefox.

"Can I print my pages?"#

Yes. Export → JPEG or PDF at 300 DPI, upload to Shutterfly, Costco, your local print shop, etc. See 09 — Saving, Exporting, Printing.

"Can I use my own fonts?"#

Currently you can pick from the curated font list. Custom font upload is on the roadmap but not yet shipped.

"I lost a project / accidentally deleted it"#

Deletes are permanent and confirmed at the time. We don't have a trash bin to restore from. Backup-via-Save-As is the workaround for important projects.

"How is this different from Canva?"#

Canva is a general design tool. MyScrapbook Studio is purpose-built for scrapbooking — spread view, photo matting, masks, kits from real scrapbook artists. Built for one thing, brilliant at it.

"Why does the editor sometimes feel slow?"#

Big projects (100+ objects, lots of high-res photos) can stress the canvas. If it crawls:

  • Close other browser tabs.
  • Use the layers panel to hide things temporarily.
  • Reduce photo file sizes before importing — 4000-pixel-wide is plenty for 12×12 print.

"Where do I report a bug?"#

/support — there's a contact form. Include the project ID (in the URL) and a quick description. Screenshots help.

"Is there a mobile app?"#

Not currently. The web app loads on tablets and phones but the editing experience is built for mouse + keyboard. A native mobile app is on the roadmap but not committed to a date.

"Can I share a project with another person to edit?"#

No multi-user collaboration yet. You can share a read-only preview link, but real-time co-editing is roadmap.

"What about offline use?"#

The editor works in a degraded offline mode — your draft saves to local storage, edits queue, and sync resumes when you reconnect. You can't load new projects offline (no network = no fetch from cloud).

"Are my projects backed up?"#

Cloud-saved projects are replicated. For belt-and-braces, Export → PDF (all pages) periodically and keep the file somewhere safe.

"I want to do something not in this guide"#

Email support. The product moves fast and not every feature lands in the guide instantly. The team is responsive.
