Add Borders to Your Pages
by Chris Wallace

Scrapbooking can seem overwhelming at times. You look at the blank sheet of paper, your pile of photos and wonder "WHAT am I GOING to do with this?" We've all been there. Instead of just gluing pictures and stickers to your pages, why not change it with a border or two?

It's easy. A border which matches on both pages can change your theme from dull to exciting without overwhelming your page. Another idea is to match the borders to the mats under your photos.

Border Basics

1. Choose a vertical or horizontal border. If you choose Vertical, place the borders to the outermost left and right edge. This leaves the white space between the borders to place your pictures. A vertical border will make your layout appear taller.

2. A Horizontal border on the bottom of both pages unifies the pages. Add A title across the top and center your pictures between the top title and bottom border. A horizontal border makes the layout appear wider.

3. Use punches & squares to add dimension to your border. Add a "mounting tape" to give the punches a raised 3 dimensional look. Or use letters to spell names, etc. in the diamonds or squares.

4. Decorate the borders with "paper piecing" patterned ideas such as the ghosts & sunflowers from the Scrap Bits magazine of patterns. (Books available online & in our store!)
